William Purves is committed to improving the accessibility of its website and continuous.
Technical approach to accessibility
The website has been developed using modern HTML, CSS and JavaScript and is intended to work with current browsers and assistive technologies.
Conformance with web coding standards alone does not guarantee accessibility, so the website has also been evaluated using automated and manual accessibility testing.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared in August 2026.
It was last reviewed in August 2026.
This website was last tested in August 2026 against the WCAG 2.2 Level A and Level AA success criteria.
The accessibility testing was carried out by The Union Advertising Agency.
A representative sample of key pages, templates, content types and interactive functionality was tested.
Automated testing included:
- WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool; and
- IBM Equal Access Accessibility Checker.
Automated testing was supplemented by manual accessibility testing, including checks for:
- keyboard-only navigation;
- keyboard focus and focus order;
- website operation without a mouse;
- text resizing and browser zoom up to 400%;
- content reflow at different viewport sizes;
- colour contrast;
- headings, labels and semantic page structure;
- image text alternatives;
- forms and interactive controls; and
- compatibility with assistive technologies.
Testing was conducted using a range of browsers and devices, including Chrome, Safari and Firefox, and on desktop and mobile devices including macOS, iOS and Android.
Screen-reader testing was carried out using a mix of the following screen reader technologies: Chrome on Windows, VoiceOver with Safari on macOS and iOS, and TalkBack with Chrome on Android].
